At Appletree Gardens our intention for SEND (Special Educational Needs and Disability) is to ensure that all children have equity of learning regardless of need or disability. We aim to equip our pupils with the skills necessary to ‘grow their learning’ and be independent learners and thinkers. We believe that all children with SEND are entitled to a sense of achievement and self-worth. We believe that all teachers are teachers of children with special educational needs and it is therefore a whole school responsibility to ensure that these children’s needs are addressed.
We understand that: - children with SEND have the same aims and hopes as their peers.
SEND pupils at Appletree talk of having fun, making friends, learning and having the opportunity to both speak and be listened to, in short, a “gloriously ordinary life.”
In line with the findings from the North Tyneside SEND Inclusion Strategy document, Appletree Gardens recognises that SEND can mean some children experience barriers to fully engaging and achieving so removing these barriers will be the key to success.
